ONE of this year’s judges, chief executive officer of the Wilderness Foundation and former Herald GM Citizen of the Year winner, Andrew Muir, gives his assessment of the judging process as well as his impressions of the top finalists…
“I found the judges process this year to be a lot more informative as we had he opportunity to talk with each of the 12 finalists in person. This was invaluable in giving us a feel of the breadth and depth of the achievements of each individual. If anything, it made the judging even harder, but stimulated healthy debate and discussion amongst us all!
Lorgat demonstrated how you can never be too younf or too old to serve your community.
Most people his age would be enjoying their retirement, yet he continually gives back in an almost full-time voluntary capacity.
He is a shinning example of Ubuntu in a atime when both our metro and country needs more role models of this narture.”
